Welcome

Welcome to the summer edition of our quarterly publication. The last couple of months have been a busy period, seeing the successful completion of a major company re-structure with the formation of Accesspoint Group Holdings. All the companies in the group are dedicated to Legal IT. Alongside Accesspoint Technologies, the group now consists of; The LegalDC, deputyCOP and also newly formed Accesspoint Legal Services.

Additionally, and adding to our client portfolio, we have secured new clients, The Family Law Practice, Palmers, Lawrence Lupin and Beck Fitzgerald alongside KGW, Cullimore Dutton, Devereaux Solicitors, De Speville Solicitors who have each renewed their contracts.

I would like to say a big thank you to our new and all existing clients for choosing to work with Accesspoint Technologies.

To support these changes and our growth, we have also invested in key people appointments. Three new directors; Kevin Hoines who joins Accesspoint Legal Services as Director of Data Migrations; Veronica Bailey who will head up deputyCOP and also Gary Shaw our Group Commercial Director. Our sales team has been joined by Business Development Executive; Aaron Walby, alongside the appointment of another senior member of staff to our ever-expanding technical team, Fawad Siddiq; Senior Infrastructure Engineer. I take this as an excellent opportunity to publicly welcome all of them on-board. If you haven’t heard from them yet, I’m sure you will in the foreseeable future.

Also, we now have extended technical support services. Headed up by Mike Hyslop who will oversee our night time activities and provide the group with essential support that will be near to 24 hour cover.

As you can see, we have made significant investment in people and our ongoing service delivery to improve our customer experience.

In closing, once again we have some interesting articles this month detailing some of the challenging projects that we have undertaken with our ever progressive client base and I encourage you to take the time to read more.

As always, I hope you enjoy the article…

Into the Cloud, the sky’s the limit…

This is the first year that Accesspoint have been involved with LSN in a large scale way and we were delighted to be one of the sponsors of the LPM 2016 Conference. Our on-going commitment to this partnership will see us working together into 2017 and we look forward to a successful future together.

Solicitors Own Software (SOS) recently embarked on their first joint IT delivery project with Accesspoint to implement its SOS Connect software to leading central London law firm Carter Lemon Camerons (CLC). The collaboration involved the installation of SOS Connect for integrated practice and case/file management, operating on a hosted IT infrastructure supplied and supported by Accesspoint.

Elaine Galvin, SOS Commercial Director comments “The combination of our leading legal software combined with Accesspoint’s Legal IT specialisms makes for a compelling solution and we look forward to the CLC contract leading to many such projects we undertake in partnership with Accesspoint”.

Instant and comprehensive protection from spear-phishing and targeted email attacks Mimecast® Targeted Threat Protection, with URL Protect is an advanced email security technology that protects employees against spear-phishing and targeted attacks in email, extending our existing Secure Email Gateway anti-spam and anti-virus services.

Targeted Threat Protection – URL Protect rewrites all links in all inbound emails, then scans the destination website in real-time when clicked by the user to help ensure phishing and spear-phishing websites are blocked, regardless of the client or device used to access email. It can be deployed alongside Mimecast Attachment Protect which adds protection against zero-hour malicious attachments.

Every URL, every click, every device…

Mimecast URL Protect rewrites all URLs in all emails, meaning employees are protected on every device and client; whether they use Microsoft Outlook or any other email software, their corporate smartphone or their own BYOD device or personal computer. Mimecast URL Protect provides comprehensive protection across all devices and inboxes, removing the need to deploy additional protection for mobile or BYOD devices. Protection even extends to URLs within emails that have been retained within the Mimecast Archive, helping to ensure employees do not fall victim to delayed exploits.

Accesspoint Technologies are providing development and training for the Tikit Software.

A Premier Law Firm in South Essex

Palmers Solicitors, founded in 1983, is one of the leading law firms in Essex with a total staffing complement of around 100 people to assist with their wide range of UK based private and commercial clients, covering the full range of legal advice.

With a strong reputation as a forward-thinking and energetic organisation, they have three offices, all based in Essex. Their main office is in Basildon, with two further offices in Chelmsford and Grays. We are delighted that Palmers chose Accesspoint as their IT providers and we very much look forward to working together in the future.

London-based Dawson Cornwell, established in 1972, is one of the UK’s leading firms specialising in family and children’s law. With around 50 users, they recently became one of Accesspoint’s clients. The firm acts for clients both in the UK and internationally, advising on all areas of family and children’s law, including the creation of alternative family structures and surrogacy law. Its specialist children’s department is internationally renowned for its lawyers’ expertise in cross-jurisdictional divorce and children cases. Unlike other niche family law practices, the firm also advises on buying and selling properties and on wills, estates, trusts and related tax issues.

Dawson Cornwell’s server hardware platform and helpdesk were managed in-house. The servers were fast approaching end-of-life with practical limitations on their expansion capacity. This, coupled with a decision to involve the IT Department in more business-focused projects, prompted the firm to consider adopting hosted technology.

A significant factor in the choice of platform was the ability to strengthen Dawson Cornwell’s position with backup and disaster recovery (DR). The original tape-based solution was impractical and complicated by the fact that a complete backup set exceeded the capacity of a tape. Other important factors were the fixed costs and flexible user licensing as well as the outsourcing of the helpdesk facility. Dawson Cornwell opted for a part managed, fully hosted solution utilising Accesspoint’s hardware infrastructure with a bolt-on on-site DR option.

NEW STARTER – AARON WALBY (Business Development Executive)

“From a young age I have always had a keen interest in technology and how it has advanced for both my personal and business use, thereafter a career in it made sense.

Nearly 5 years ago, I heard about a new start up IT firm specialising in, and solely focusing on, the legal sector. Over this period, I had been noting the progress, not in so much that they would be a direct rival to the company I was working for, but rather an interest as I have family members who also work in the legal sector.

Having seen the pride, dedication and passion that Accesspoint have, it made me feel that they were the kind of company I wanted to work for and also brag about”.
May the obsession live long!

NEW STARTER – Fawad Siddiq (Senior Infrastructure Engineer)

“IT and Technology had always peeked my interest from a very young age, although my attention has been diverted several times as a result of my interest through my love for fast cars and washing machine repair documentaries. Although my attentions may have been diverted, anything but IT was always a dream since all I used to read was Cisco magazines.

I have maintained that it was a datacentre where I was born and raised, near ESXi servers was where I spent most of my days. Having worked for some very large businesses on some very high profile projects, I came across some very exciting projects by Accesspoint, which I wanted, nay had to be a part of.”
